posts from pretty days

cloud nine {one}

oh yes, I know I haven’t been posting much lately. not that I haven’t been making anything, but well, it’s just too sunny outside. if I’m being honest, the lack of content around here is mainly due to my wandering mind. right now, I’m quite the happy girl.

plus I’ve got tons of fun side projects. I’ve just received a couple of new moleskine notebooks; I’ve made a set of stamps and I’m working on the sweetest illustration ever for one of my very best friends.

I’ll probably sit back at my desk tomorrow. meanwhile, I hope you’re having a blast, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing. xx

things couldn’t be better. I’m back from three days spent in the loveliest place ever in company of my favourite people on earth. I took tons of great polaroid pictures. I have a new laptop. I just received a package from gerstaecker; pretty much everything I need to make my own prints.

I’ve always dreamt about printing my own designs. but as much as I’d love to, a letter press is just two expensive for me right now, and goccos are impossible to find around here.
then, I came across linoprinting. and felt happy.

I’ve drawn a couple of series I intend to print; one of those being about polaroid cameras. love them so much I don’t want to forget about them. never.
I plan to carve the lino tonight and hopefully, I’ll have some beautiful results to show you tomorrow.

happy weekending {one}

kusmi tea polaroid

I’m off to my grand parents house for the - long - week end. monday off. fireworks and ice creams. I just can’t wait to see my sister. and cousins. and quite evidently, my rocking grand parents.

hope you all have the loveliest week end ever. see you on tuesday.

meanwhile, please enjoy a cup of your favourite tea - mine is pictured above: almond green tea - with some ice cubes thrown into it. yeah to summer.

I love spending some quality time with my felt-tip pens. I especially like the green one. it seems I’m into geometric shapes at the moment. not-so-straight lines. dots. pentagons.
it’s such a lovely sensation. have you also noticed trends in what makes your heart beat?

lick your face {one}

pinecone polaroid

five random things that make me happy.

:: carrying my polaroid camera around, all the time
:: pine cones
:: slowly getting over you
:: counting seconds until I can lick my sister’s face*
:: fireworks and sand castles this week end

*yes, that’s totally random but true; my little sister and I always lick each others cheeks, and then we laugh until our ribs hurt and we can’t breath anymore.

spent pretty much all day thinking about being outdoors, and taking polaroid pictures of the surrounding herbs. quite coincidentally, that’s what I did after work.

I just love my camera. and thought I should carry it in my bag all the time.

and then you kissed me {0}

it happens often. I hold the camera in my hand. my finger touches the button. I hear that click noise and know it’s too late. a random picture is being ejected from the camera.

most of the time, those are over exposed. I have a pretty pile of them because I can’t get myself to throw them away. beauty is everywhere. and sometimes, in places you don’t expect it to be. a couple of marker pen lines later, here is the result. love*love.

something glorious is about to happen {0}

everyday, after I park my car and walk to the office, I pass by a beautiful pine tree that happens to hold the most beautiful pinecones I’ve ever seen.

today, I felt so inspired by this tree that I had to rush back home after work, grab my camera and go back there to take some picture. love that kind of now-or-never feeling.
anyway, I did take pictures of the tree; but then noticed how gorgeous the patterns formed by the leaves of the surrounding trees are.

natural patterns are delicate and beautiful. just as every pattern should be in fact. don’t you think so?

it’s funny how I love documenting my meals through photographs. it feels so relaxing and different from my usual food photography.

I never use many props. I just love clean shots, with vibrant colours, that highlight the food itself. overstyled food photography just isn’t for me. and despite my love for very simple pictures, I still pay a lot of attention when shooting for foodbeam.

however, when I plan on talking about one of my meals around here, I just need some white fabric - or as in today’s picture, my window’s border - and I’m all set.
I love how spontaneous this feels. no editing. the pictures are just resized, uploaded and worded.

I know some of those pictures aren’t the best around, but I love them. love how fresh they are. and I really hope you like them too.

à la montagne {0}

I picked a couple of books at a garage sale last week end for barely nothing. in the pile stood this lovely children’s book: daniel et valérie à la montagne.

1981.

and still rocking. and makes me happy.
