the old lady that I am had to give up at work today after feeling so drowsy I could not even move. I could, however, think. about what makes me super happy right now.

in random order.

basil seeds. I’ve seen them everywhere over the span of a couple of days. in popsicles. on salmon carpaccio. and in my new favourite cookbook (picture above is the amazing honeydew melon soup with coconut sorbet and tapioca. love at the first sight).

books. while I’m at it, I must mention my recent favourite reads. I think I stated it pretty clearly above, but one of them is Pier by Greg Doyle. the second is Made in England by Aiden Byrne.

polaroid. and especially the fact that my polaroid spectra has the loveliest bokeh ever.

matcha bubble tea. before I even tasted one, I knew I was going to love it. and I do. so much that I just got one kg of big rainbow tapioca pearls in china town.

sweet purple yam. I still don’t know what I’m going to make out of it. but I’m pretty excited.

it seems my thoughts have geared towards food lately. I’ve been feeling overly inspired by exotic ingredients. I’m so grateful to be living my dream. being a pastry chef is beyond what I could have imagined. some call it bliss. I simply see it as evident.

what makes you happy right now? or perhaps, what are your latest culinary discoveries?

ps. in case you’re wondering, the food diary is on a break, but everything is going just fine. I think I’ll just post an update weekly so not to bore you with unexciting details about my food consumption.

today, I didn’t take any picture. I’m happy to see things with my heart. indeed, one sees clearly only with the heart; anything essential is invisible to the eyes.

I find these words from my very favourite childhood book beautiful.

rather evident. and yet, new to me. needless to say it was instant love.

one summer ago. we saw wolves. and I fell in love with you.

we had dreams made of road trips, the kind of them where you sleep in the car. we had dreams of lazy nights, the kind of them spent by the seaside with good wine and grilled fish eaten with fingers.

yes, that was the day I fell in love with you.

I’m in love with my flickr favourites. and waking up to them is like opening a box of marrons glacés.

thank you my friends for noticing how beautiful our world is.

it’s barely monday anymore, but I felt like celebrating this new week. which I expect to be made of visits at the tate modern (Jiri Kovanda’s photography makes me breathless), lunch at borough market, unmatched socks, fireworks inside my heart, fresh green peas, cake drawing, and possibly, a summer pudding.

have fun. x

ps. since I’m on the subject of fireworks, I shall admit that I believed for a long time that they were called feu dentifrice (literally, toothpaste fire) instead of the more conventional – apparently not for my always funny dad – feu d’artifices. thanks papa for having made my world such a crazy cool one.

this moves me. turning the ordinary into beauty. or perhaps more possibly, underlining the beauty of the ordinary.

when I stepped into room eleven of tate modern’s fifth floor, I was in awe. all those daily objects – part of an installation created by Peter Fischli and David Weiss – are in fact sculptures. I could have stayed there for hours. consciously scanning the details that I would have probably overlooked in my everyday life.

art is this for me. opening a new window to our lives. getting us to think about what surrounds us. and maybe, more simply, making us apperceptive.

what kind of art moves you? to me it’s all about hidden beauty and melancholic words.

I’m off for a long journey from one home to another. train is nice. ten hours in the train, not so much.

I’ll see you later from the other side of the channel. x

this is exactly where I want to be right now. it would be a long week end off. an escapade from the city, with my favourite person, enough wine for three days, a tepee, some lovely food (preferably avocado and chilies).

the sun would be just warm enough. and we would lie in the grass all day long, not noticing the sky turning blue. in fact, we wouldn’t even see the difference between me and you.

ps.
bloc party stole my heart.

three things I’m missing. our little trips to entrevaux, the warmth of a summer sun, and making colour palettes.

but I’m far from complaining. yesterday night, guillaume and I celebrated our first anniversary with champagne, a couple of brushette, t-bone steack with asparagus linguine, and a banana tatin.
a perfect night. and I’m looking forward to many more.

and today, if I feel brave enough to leave my bed, I will explore my favourite city in the world, namely: London.

edit. I just spotted the most perfect silkscreen print to go allow with this post. it’s from Melinda Josie and is adorable.
I’m completely trying to get one right now (thanks Ez for the find). x
