I’m finally home, and with time on my hands. great!

I uploaded the pictures I had kept inside my camera for ages, and came across these two, which reminded me of the awesome evening J. and I spent together. eating crispy crackles under a handmade cardboard tent.

this was so much fun.

something new

crema fritta

crema fritta is something I had never heard of until today. and, now I just can’t wait to try and re-create it at home.

strawberries and cream

it’s funny how I love documenting my meals through photographs. it feels so relaxing and different from my usual food photography.

I never use many props. I just love clean shots, with vibrant colours, that highlight the food itself. overstyled food photography just isn’t for me. and despite my love for very simple pictures, I still pay a lot of attention when shooting for foodbeam.

however, when I plan on talking about one of my meals around here, I just need some white fabric - or as in today’s picture, my window’s border - and I’m all set.
I love how spontaneous this feels. no editing. the pictures are just resized, uploaded and worded.

I know some of those pictures aren’t the best around, but I love them. love how fresh they are. and I really hope you like them too.

not so fine

I’ve been feeling overly tired lately - definitely need to do that blood test soon. and as if this wasn’t enough of a sensation, I’ve been in that not so lovely state, in which I don’t like the - very few - things I make.

need to get better soon. maybe eating berries packed with vitamin C might help. on this latter note, the farmers market was gorgeous. I lvoe summer.

I’ve noticed something quite interesting. I go through phases. sometimes, all I want is to create little random things. drawings, notecards, pictures, you name it. other times, I just feel like baking and making pastries.

and as much as I would like to, I never find the time to do both at the same time.

at the moment, I’m in love with foodbeam. and with the NY Times. I recently made some delicious herbed fritters and liked them so much I decided to make one recipe from the NYT magazine every week.
but I do truly miss drawing. and taking the time to browse the internet for inspiration. soon.

breakfast.lunch.tea

avocado with lemon juice, finely sliced onions and cayenne pepper, onto svensk bread.
mango and bufallo milk mozzarella.
raspberry and dark chocolate fondant cake.

these are a couple of things I’ve enjoyed this past week. so very delicious. I just love avocado. and mango too. and quite obviously, raspberries as well.

luncheon

can lunch get any better than that? oozing camembert and crustry baguette. this has to be my favourite thing to eat after a morning spent at the farmers market.

pique nique

busiest day of the year. but I still managed to find some time to 1. relax at the lake with friends; and 2. write a post over at foodbeam.com
best day ever.

the last cherries

I’m glad I went to the doctor yesterday, as I now feel way better. still sore and groggy; but I managed to hit the farmer’s market this morning.

midsummer. so many beautiful local produce.

I got courgettes and courgettes flowers - ten of them for less than a euro.
gorgeous little cantaloupe melons; didn’t you know you can tell when a melon is ripe from its peduncule? and more accurately, by the detachement of the peduncule. when the melon is ready for harvest, you can see little cracks around its peduncule.
I also picked lovely white peaches, which got crushed at the bottom of my basket; fresh pasta; organic home-cured ham; fragrant butter; young onions and the first tomatoes.

as well as the last cherries of the year. gine cherries I’m told they’re called. to be honest I had never heard about such a variety before; they seem to be very close to sour cherries - only slightly sweeter since it’s the end of the season.

for lunch, I quickly boiled some pasta, and mixed in a nut of butter and shredded ham. it was yummy; but I couldn’t finish my plate.
