:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
at times, I have so many things in my head that I feel petrified. unable to see what I want or what I should be doing. but I guess our fears are both boundaries and triggers, so let’s go for the latter.
for some time, I’ve been questioning the essence of blogging. I guess I’m not talking about foodbeam; because, there, it makes sense for me to speak about something I know.
but here, on my petit navire, it’s been feeling awkward. life is not something we can master. so really, is it possible to write about this? and if we do, what’s the point?
and yet, when I read other people’s words, they make me travel, discover unexplored parts of the world or even – and perhaps more importantly – unexplored parts of the mind.
because life may not be our core competency, but it’s something we can share with the people we love and who love us.
and I really hope that wherever you are in the world right now, this little space – pointless or not – does bring you happiness, just like my own life does.
I would very much be interested in what makes you write or read a personal blog?

To me a personal blog has a lot in common with photography (which I love). It is made of descriptions of instant moments that can be seen only from one point of view in that time and place. The only reason why I don’t write is because I am very goofy with words, but the reason why I read blogs is because I’m a creative spirit and they can be inspiring (as people can be) and make me think in a new way. Blogs can be like drawings, photographs, cakes, books, songs or movies. For some reason, unique things that are created by human beings are interesting.
Tim a dit:Reading personal blogs is pure inspiration for me. There is something raw yet so intriguing about an average person and how they decide to capture and display it. I am more draw to something that hasnt been fluffed by popularity or media, to me it is the purest form of expression. Everything seems unfiltered. To draw, photograph, write, sing, cook, etc… when no one is looking, when you are not expecting a comment, when you dont write for the readers. I find most are doing it for themselves. I might be getting a bit carried away, but personal blogs are the best. The most pure.
Lucy V a dit:I want to share. It was an easy way to begin.
Kyle a dit:The amazing diversity of thought contained in personal blogs is endlessly fascinating. Plus you get insight into how other people deal with conflicts internally, which can be an invaluable tool when facing new types of conflicts. Reading personal blogs has helped lower some of my social anxieties by being exposed to the insecurities of other people. It makes life’s challenges seem more manageable when you can identify with other people who are surviving through conflict.
Jessica a dit:For me, personal blogs don’t hold much appeal, however, a handful of my favourite blogs are indeed personal.
For a personal blog to interest me it must be free of superfluous drivel – I want to read well executed posts that make me think. I am also a strong believer that one superb photograph carries far more weight than a page of average photographs on the same subject. I sincerely respect the blogger who makes just one meaningful post a week as opposed to the blogger who has nothing much to say but nevertheless makes a post.
Fanny, I have been soaking up Foodbeam and Mon Petit Navire from afar – so much of what you share resounds with me, and certainly many other readers. I think it would be a shame to let it go.

why, it’s the same reason why i adore traveling, languages, and eating!
it’s to see how other people see the world. how they write about it. how they think about it. how they love it.
ie, language: words get the same job done in all cultures. i’m hungry, j’ai faim, ich habe hunger, ?? – but it’s so beautiful to me that even though they express the same thing, they’re also completely different at the same time.
ie, food: this one should be obvious. everybody likes something yummy in their tummy. france -> tarte au citron! usa -> cupcakes! turkey/greece -> baklava! etc. etc. but they all accomplish the same goal: pure delight that hits the tongue.
and so naturally i like reading blogs. we’re all just human with the same basic needs and functions, but blogs make us aware just how differently we all see the world and the things around us.
have a nice day!
