fly away

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

a couple of things I’m going to do this special week end.

1. seat at a cafe terrasse and get as many diabolos kiwi as humanly possible.
2. read, read, read.
3. knit the knits, and purls the purls.
4. hike to the most gorgeous cascade.
5. swim in ice-cold waters.
6. be happy.

hope you’re having a blast. if not, please, please, feel free to use my very own hot-air balloon for fun times. see you on wednesday. xx

today, I found my very favourite lipstick. green turns hot pink when in contact with the lips. it has followed me everywhere for years.

it made me smile.

but the crazier thing of those last twenty-four hours has to be the heart-shaped yoghurt spot my sister got on the cheek after I whipped my yoghurt-filled teaspoon on her (one of my favourite games). not so coincidental. I love her.

after this painful laugh, I had to calm down, and in my book nothing beats knitting for this. I’m looking forward to the day I’ll receive those yarns to make guillaume a manly-man scarf.

early autumn

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

yesterday, if it wasn’t for the thirty-two celsius degrees temperature, I could have believed autumn was here already.

it’s all about the light. mutted tones. and yellow colours.

oh, autumn, I’m waiting for you and your rainy days, filled with cookie-baking, scarf-knitting, and cosy boyfriend-snuggling.

wall

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

here is the white wall I was talking about yesterday night. it’s not-so-white anymore. and I love it.

plus, the cabinet is one I’ve had for years and years. expect it was naked wood before, and now, after a little sanding and painting, it’s as white as snow. no need to buy new furniture.

I really wish I had taken pictures of my room before we painted the walls white, and rearranged the cupboards that surround my bed. it would have made a pretty sweet before/after.

at least, you now have a glimpse of the after. I still need to add some more pictures and inspiring paper clips, but so far I like it.

do you? and, for more inspiration, how does your perfect bedroom would look like?

magic bracelet

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

the past two days have been like magic to me. lets hope tomorrow is going to be just as good.

yesterday, I got some good news. we went to the woods for a quiet promenade. he found the cutest acorn, and I took a picture of it with my beloved pentax.

today, I printed some of my pictures, and hung them to my wall. I talked about this on foodbeam. I wrote on index cards again. I made pierre hermé’s tarte infiniment vanille.

tomorrow, I will sort my papers. I will make a triptych, just like I used to. I will knit. I will go to an exciting sleepover. he promised he would make crêpes for dinner. I. can’t. wait.

hopes • feel better soon, be able to go to work tomorrow, and get to sleep early tonight.

wishes • be at home right now, take more pictures with my new favourite film camera, and fast forward to this october.

somehow, my kidney still hurt. it feels like a very painful stitch. and nothing really make me feel any better. sad days. although, I have to admit that looking at pretty pictures from home does soothe me a little.

I’m off to bed now, hoping for an early four-am wake-up tomorrow. going back to work rocks. let’s cross your fingers for me.

ps. I can’t really sleep right now due to a mean kidney pain (the hospital sent me back home, I guess I had some lucky stars looking after me).

do you have any inspiring sites for me to look at? thank you. xx fanny.

I just developed my very first (well, accurately, it’s more of the second, but we don’t count the actual first one right) roll of film, and I’m in love.

the pictures are perfect. thirteen moments, stopped in time. the weekend guillaume and I spent in entrevaux was sweet and lovely.

the water passed by. we had a delicious pain au chocolat breakfast at our favourite café. then I read a swedish book (or perhaps, should I say the swedish book of the moment).

plus, have you seen how those three pictures together make the most beautiful colour gradient?

today, after I dropped my second and third rolls of film to develop, I thought I could go and check on the secret figs trees that grow in a hidden abandoned backyard.

just in case. and it must have been my lucky day because:
• there they were. figs. plenty of them.
•• this does accurately mean that autumn is on its way.

I’m the happiest girl. ever. now, please cross your fingers for my rolls of film.

inspirationfilm is fake {3}

before/after

remember how excited I was when I first came across the toycamera analogcolor application thanks to Anne-So? I mean, in a second, you can turn any bland picture into a sweet one with an old film look.

sure, I could just as well grab my pentax and play around, but well, this feels like instant gratification (and I have had the pentax me super for a short few days).

with this application, things do feel like fun. you drag a picture (large size, straight from adobe bridge for me). tweak around until you get a result you like. export picture. resize in photoshop (you can resize straight from toycamera analogcolor, but I must admit I have to use my dear photoshop at least once a day, otherwise I tend to get nervous).

just below, you’ll find my own fake-film version. quite obviously I forgot to record the parameters, but you can clearly se some differences from the raw picture (see before/after above).

cabane fouras

if you’re a little uncertain with how to use the application, I recommend you start by applying the preset actions, which are: high key – warm room – randomize – sunny day – white room – toy camera – green pola – blue pola -yellow pola.

high keyhigh key.

warm roomwarm room.

randomizerandomize.
now, this is interesting since it randomly changes the parameters, and well, you should be lucky enough to create a couple of versions that you like.

it’s also the appropriate time for me to discuss those parameters with you. below is a screenshot of the application after I applied the randomize preset action.

random

start. to create dark corners. the higher the setting, the smaller the corners.
amount. to enhance the dark corners.

blur. to create a fog around the image periphery.

noize. to add grain.

dodge. to brighten the centre of the image.

color. to adjust the color tones. from cold to warm (left to right).

contrast. to adjust the contrast.

X. to control the intensity with which the parameters are applied. the lower, the more your picture will look like the original.

and then come the different processing types.

different processes

back to preset actions for more fun.

sunny daysunny day.

white roomwhite room.

toy cameratoy camera.

green polaroidgreen polaroid.

blue polaroidblue polaroid.

yellow polaroidyellow polaroid.

although they all look pretty sweet to me, I must admit I have a full-time love for the warm room and toy camera presets.
now, grab your camera, take a couple of pictures, and have fun post-processing them into fakes.
